Residential and Daycare Training center for persons with Mental Retardation

This center for persons with Mental Retardation established in 1990 with 3 students. Through this center we are able to cater to the needs of both the City, Semi-Urban and Rural Disabled Population. The present strength of this center is 130 students and another 45 on waiting list.

The training is carried out under the expert guidance of our team of specialists comprising of Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Physiotherapist, Special Educator and Social Worker. The facilities in the training center for the Mentally Retarded are open to all categories, irrespective of their religion, caste, creed and socio-economic status. The person with mental Retardation is admitted into the training center, will be provided with Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy and Skill training in Activities of Daily Living, Communication Skills, Social Interaction Skills and Basics of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. The programs for each individual student will be chosen after all the team members assess the beneficiary. Apart from the regular Special Education Training and Therapeutic intervention programs, we provide opportunities to enhance overall socio-cultural development of our special student by training them to participate in extra-curricular activities such as Dance, Music, Drama, Sports and Games. And once in three months, we organize and take our beneficiaries on picnics and excursions.
